A further detail to consider when creating a family-oriented play zone is the scenery that surrounds the elements mentioned above. Creating a visually appealing area that can be enjoyed on a warm day will create an environment where families will stay for hours. Creating this environment starts with having equipment that suits the area its within. For example, if the playground is situated in a natural environment like a forest, the equipment would need to be wooden to ensure it suits the territory. Having an area where natural wildlife thrives through planted flowers, natural shrubbery and tall trees can make the area more peaceful for parents whilst also incorporating informal play for children to immerse themselves with.
Accessibility
Many families will be visiting your play area from far away, as well as those that live nearby, meaning that access to the playground must be considered. If your playground is located in a rural area, will there be easy access to the area via car, as well as parking within the vicinity? Equally, will the playground be easily accessible by foot, considering how many entrances there are to the area so that people can enter from different areas, as well as ensuring entrance points are not too muddy or blocked? These are all important factors to consider for family-friendly designs, as a lack of accessibility could stop families from visiting the area without even seeing the equipment.
