Work has begun on a very special project – Euan’s Play Space in Portpatrick. It’s been just one year since we lost Euan, aged four. The son of Timberplay Scotland Director Harry Harbottle and his partner Sian Roberts, Euan had been a regular visitor to the current play space in Portpatrick, and we thought that renovating the park would be an ideal way to honour his memory and create joy and play for other children at the same time.
We set about raising funds to renovate the space, and were amazed at the generosity of everyone involved. Richter Spielgeräte have been generous with greatly subsidised excellent play equipment, our sister company Timberplay has donated workers, and even the local hotel, Harbour House, offered rooms for the workers to stay in. A team of volunteers prepared the ground.
Local children popped down to see what was going on and try out some of the new equipment, which features a wooden train, ship, swings and a roundabout. The site isn’t complete yet, but it’s wonderful to see it taking shape. Huge thanks for everybody’s help with this project.
